About me
I am a passionate and knowledgeable teacher and performer, with over 30 years experience. I am happiest when I help others discover and grow their skills and love of music.
I was educated in the world-renowned Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow in the 80’s, where I graduated with a masters in chamber music performance, orchestral solo performance as well as pedagogy (teaching) of the violin. I went on to hold several teaching posts alongside my performance career, and also performed on an overseas solo tour in Asia. My family life has taken me around the world, and I have also had the pleasure of teaching and performing in the UK, the Middle East, and the USA.
These days I am based in Guilford, Surrey. Since 2020 I have been teaching online and have found this (I must say surprisingly) effective and enjoyable. Under usual circumstances, I enjoy travelling to see my students and to events and performances.
Violin Tuition
My lifelong passion is to share the joy of the violin with others. I am a dedicated teacher, with a patient and supportive attitude. I typically work with students once or twice a week, and develop a learning plan for each student individually, based on your experience and unique ambitions. I enjoy teaching children from the age of 5, through to adults and seniors. I pride myself on developing confidence in my students, and always encouraging fun and creativity through music.
Whether you are a complete beginner, amateur, or looking to become a professional violinist, my approach is entirely tailored. I have experience working with students looking to pass grade exams (1-8), entry exams into prestigious institutions, or simply playing for joy and pleasure.
Events & Performances
I have been performing for as long as I can remember, and I still love the thrill of bringing music to all audiences. Previously I have performed as concertmaster (leader of the first violin section) of a number of orchestras, as well as with duets, quartets and even a much loved folk band. I have a network of musicians which I work and perform with, depending on the requirements of the event. I especially love playing at weddings and family occasions, and will work with you to understand your style and requirements.
